Saturday our club joined with Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity to help build a house. After cleaning up the work site we assisted in transporting the roof and walls from the ground floor to the second. By lunch time, half of the upstairs walls were in place. The Stones River-Oaklands Kiwanis hosted the 22nd Annual Holloway Harbor Childcare Center Christmas Party today. Santa Claus stopped by and handed out presents to all of the children. Don’t forget that this Wednesday’s meeting will be held at Holloway High School. We will be throwing our annual Christmas party for the children in Holloway Harbor. Don’t forget to bring your presents for your child! Rick took care of the diapers and Steve Fuchcar will make sure you don’t go away hungry. Jan will make sure Santa keeps in line!
Friday the 12th is V.A. Bingo night out at the VA Hospital! Start time is 6:30 p.m. Please stop in and spend some time with our veterans that evening if you can.
Saturday will be a day of service with Habitat for Humanity! Please arrive at 402 S. Univeristy Street by 8:45 a.m.! Everyone must have a safety form completed before work can start. A few members of the MTSU Circle K will be joining us for this project.
The December/January Candle Wishes Party was a great success!!!! With volunteers from our Builders’ Club, Key Clubs and Circle K, we were able to efficiently serve more than 300 people! The Stones River-Oakland Kiwanis Club is seeking volunteers for the Candle Wishes Party they are hosting Dec.6.
The event, being held at Belle Aire Baptist Church, will be larger than a traditional birthday party. “We always combine the December and January parties due to the holidays,” Jenny Williams, Candle Wishes’ Executive Director says. “That also means we have to find twice as many volunteers to adopt children.” Read the rest of this entry »
