Volunteers are still needed to purchase birthday gifts for needy children in Rutherford County.
The Stones River-Oakland Kiwanis Club is seeking volunteers for the Candle Wishes Party they are hosting Dec.6.
The event, being held at Belle Aire Baptist Church, will be larger than a traditional birthday party. “We always combine the December and January parties due to the holidays,” Jenny Williams, Candle Wishes’ Executive Director says. “That also means we have to find twice as many volunteers to adopt children.”
Eighty-six children and their families will be celebrating at this party. Kiwanis will be providing the food and entertainment. Volunteers are still needed to adopt children. Gifts must be turned in no later than Dec. 3.
Through the support of organizations like Kiwanis, Candle Wishes has been making birthday dreams come true for children in Rutherford County since 2002. Candle Wishes identifies children in need and adopts those children to volunteers who purchase birthday gifts which are presented to the kids at monthly birthday parties.
