Blackman Key Club Cleans up at DCON

Congratulations to Blackman High School Key Club. At District Convention this past weekend in Gatlinburg, TN, the Key Clubbers walked away with some amazing awards:
2nd place – Pop a Top with 475 lbs
Andy Hutson Scholarship Recipient – Lacey Dunkley
District Matching Scholarship Recipient – Lacey Dunkley
1st place – Scrapbook
1st place Club in Division One (the Middle Tennessee Region)
2nd place Talent Competition – Katelyn Krueger & Erin Nolin singing and playing piano on Erin’s original piece “Guardian Angel”
Lacey Dunkley – Received a Governor’s Service Award
2nd place – Major Emphasis – for our Live to Learn Service Project for tutoring at Blackman Elementary School every week & presenting a Live to Learn – Love to Read Project a Murfreesboro Boy’s and Girl’s Club
2nd place – Single Service – for our school wide recycling program
Annual Achievement Report – TOP CLUB IN TENNESSEE
Kristen Wendt had several sleepless nights preparing the paperwork for the awards. Many of these accomplishments wouldn’t have been recognized without all her hard work! Enjoy the pictures from convention!

See Spot Run for Habitat for Humanity

This 5K Run/Walk will be held Sunday, April 5, 2009 @ 8:00 a.m. on the campus of MTSU.  Participants are encouraged to bring their dogs to run with them!  Entry fee is $20 before March 29th and $25 after that date.  Proceeds from the event will help to build a Habitat for Humanity home in Murfreesboro.  For more information, contact Olivia Barker at 615-898-5812.

Candle Wishes Fundraiser a success

Last night’s Candle Wishes fundraiser with the Nashville Predators was a great success!  With ticket sales, silent auction items and personal donations, the event raised more than $3500 for Candle Wishes!  Thanks so everyone who worked so hard to make this event a success!
