It is with a heavy heart that we have to report the loss of one of our LaVergne High School Key Club members. Esaela Hariri’s body was found Saturday in J. Percy Priest Lake after an apparent suicide. Esaela will be greatly missed and our thoughts and prayers are with her family and then entire LaVergne H.S. community.
Blackman Middle School Builders Clubbers will be hosting a can food drive and selling “turkey feathers” next week. The kids will be selling paper feathers during their lunch period to benefit the local food bank. The feathers will be posted outside teachers classrooms. The teacher with the most feathers will in turn have to dress up like a turkey at the school’s pep rally. The kids also made Christmas cards for a terminally ill child and signed up to bring in gifts for the Dec. 5 Candle Wishes party.
This Veteran’s Day our club welcomed MTSU Dr. Derek Frisby, assistant professor of history, as our speaker. Frisby talked about the completion of and this Saturday’s dedication of the MTSU Veteran’s Memorial which our club purchased three “bricks” for. Frisby also shared photos and stories from his recent “research” trip to the Pacific.
Members of the Oakland High School Key Club set up a table at Jim N Nicks BBQ tonight to raise funds for their club. Patrons had the opportunity to drop their receipts or donations into a fish bowl at the Key Club table. Jim N Nicks donated a percentage of all receipts to the Key Club. Thanks Jim N Nicks!
